Who is Decorah Bank?

How can I contact greenpenny or Decorah Bank?

Contact us at 888-473-6690 or service@greenpenny.bank. Our business hours remain 8am – 4:30pm CST. This contact information will remain in place for the foreseeable future to ensure a smooth transition. In 2025, you can contact Decorah Bank directly at 563-382-9661 or customer_support@decorah.bank.

What will happen to my deposit account?

On December 2, 2024 your account will transition to a comparable Decorah Bank and Trust deposit account. You will receive notice of this transition in the mail, as well as a new debit and/or ATM card. You also have the option to close your account, if that better suits your needs.

Where are my funds?

Your funds are still in your deposit account. You still have access to those fund at any time and day-to-day transactions will not be disrupted by this transition. On December 2, 2024, your account will be converted to a Decorah Bank account, which may have different features than the greenpenny account previously.

Will my account number change?

No, account numbers and the bank routing number will all remain the same through the transition.

Is FDIC insurance impacted by this change?

Deposits continue to be insured by the FIDC up to the standard limit of $250,000 per depositor for each ownership category. This insurance does not change and will remain in effect through this transition.

What about direct deposit? Will those services be interrupted?

No, direct deposits that are set up will not be interrupted as a result of the transition. If you choose to close your account(s) and move to another institution, then you will need to set up direct deposit(s) with the new account.

Will ATM withdrawal fees be covered by my Decorah Bank account?

No, Decorah Bank does do not cover your ATM withdrawal fees. An alternative to get cash without a fee is to make a purchase with your debit card and ask for cash back as part of the transaction.

Can I still use my greenpenny checks?

Yes, account numbers and the bank’s routing number will not change. When it comes time to reorder checks, our Decorah Bank team can help you with the order.

Is Zelle impacted by this transition?

No, account numbers are not changing; Zelle transactions will process as they normally would.

Will my Bill Pay services be impacted by this transition?

No, the automatic payments you have set up will not be impacted by this transition.

Will my statement dates change?

No, statement cycles will not change.

Can I close my greenpenny account?

Yes. We're sad to see you go, but totally get it. Call us at 888-473-6690 or click Close My Account to complete request form. Once we receive the request, our team will promptly close your account and disburse the funds according to your preference. Please be sure to double check pending debit card transactions, reassignment automatic transactions (payments or transfers) and any direct deposits you have set up prior to submitting a request.

Solar Loan Customer FAQs

What happens to my greenpenny loan?

Our parent company, Decorah Bank & Trust, a family- and employee-owned community bank, will take over servicing your residential solar loan(s). Your loan terms and repayment requirements have not changed. Automatic payments will process as they currently do; all account numbers and routing number will stay the same. This is simply an administrative change.

Will my automatic payment still work?

Yes, automatic payments will continue to be made as normal. No changes are required for this process to continue as it is set up today.

How can I make a principal only payment?

The same way you have in the past, just using the Decorah Bank & Trust app or online banking. Instructions can be found here.

How do I access my account or payment information?

Visit www.decorah.bank and login to online banking located in the upper left corner using your greenpenny login credentials. Or, visit the app store and download the Decorah Bank & Trust mobile app – use your greenpenny login credentials. 

Where should I mail loan payments?

Please send loan payments to Decorah Bank & Trust, PO Box 380, Decorah, IA 52101. Be sure to include your loan number on the check.

Will my account number change?

No, account numbers and the bank routing number will all remain the same through the transition.
