Decorah Bank Contributes $400,000 to Sunflower Child Development & Discovery Center Project

Decorah Bank & Trust is sponsoring the Sunflower Child Development & Discovery Center project with a $400,000 contribution. Bank CEO Ben Grimstad stressed the importance of this project, stating, “Access to child care is one of the top economic development and workforce issues facing our community and our bank. This childcare center is a huge project that requires big support. The bank’s multi-year pledge should help make an impact on making this a reality.”

Sunflower’s Board is working towards meeting their goal of 8.5 million dollars. This donation is part of the 6.5 million dollars Sunflower has raised to date, and has a goal to raise an additional 2 million dollars for construction of the new facility. 

Barb Wilkerson, Sunflower Board President, stated “When we started raising funds, Decorah Bank was one of the first donors to step forward. They gave us the confidence to keep moving and for that we are very grateful.”
